Scalp psoriasis is, in my opinion, just about the worst psoriasis there is. Aside from your face, your scalp is the part of you
that more people see than anything else (especially if you are bald). You can cover your elbows with long sleeves, keep your
hands in your pockets, or hide your legs with jeans, but your scalp - and it's psoriasis - is left to fend for itself. Hats aren't
much help. Sure, they may cover the patches, but the flakes always seem to find there way to your shoulders.
So, the question is:
How do you manage scalp psoriasis?
It would be easy to say "just accept" it. I have. But I know that, realistically, that alone doesn't cut it. Its one thing to accept your
psoriaisis, quite another to disregard it.
So, how do I manage my scalp psoriasis? Well, for starters, light colored shirts have become a fashion staple. Dark colors
are out - period. Patterns are good. Anything to hide the flakes and, if you don't have psoriasis on your scalp, you can't
imagine how much flaking there can be. As far as camouflaging your condtion, thats the best you can do. But, you may be
able to help with the flaking.
I've had psoriasis for about 10 years now. On my scalp, about six. Over the past year or so I have noticed that diet (drinking
alot of water and miniizing garbage food) does seem to help a little. And, it seems to help the scalp psoriasis more than
psoriaisis in other areas. Who knoes why, but the scalp - at least mine - seems to get a bigger benefit from good diet than
other spots.
So, good diet can help minimize your flaking, and proper clothes choice can help hide what you can't control.
Other than that, there isn't much left you can do except, just accept it.
